Sal Coppola owned a pizzeria for seventeen years before opening Villa Sorrento Restaurant in 1996. Named after a little town in Italy, Villa Sorrento brings Saint James, New York, traditional Italian fare. Sal was actually a waiter at the restaurant that was in the building previously and love the building so much that he decided to have his own business there. The Veal Chop is by far the most popular dish, explained Walter, Salís longtime friend and manager. The Stuffed Veal Chops are phenomenal as well as the pastas. The Pistachio Encrusted Salmon and Pecan Encrusted Salmon are equally delicious, and the Chicken Sorrentino is definitely worth a try. Villa Sorrento has an extensive wine list with varying price points. People feel at home and comfortable when dining at Villa Sorrento Restaurant. ìWe have customers that have been coming here 20 years and now come with their kids,î explained Walter. Villa Sorrento has a nice little private section and does plenty of off-premise catering for weddings, BBQs and other parties. Located right on the main road in the town, Villa Sorrento is well known and well loved in Saint James.
